Only 25% of disadvantaged pupils receive a grade 5 or above in their English and Maths GCSE. For all other pupils, this statistic more than doubles to 52%.

Team Up was founded in 2008 to address this gap. Their volunteers tutor underachieving children in primary and secondary schools in London.

How we support Team Up

To date, we’ve provided Team Up with over £168,000 in funding. Our development grants have focused on developing their marketing strategy, including creating a promotional video, redeveloping their website and social media training for Team Up’s staff.

Our support has allowed Team Up to develop a strong marketing strategy, positioning them as a leader amongst London’s education charities.

The difference our support has made
  • Before 2022, Team Up was supporting children in 11 London boroughs. After three years of being part of The Firefly Project, the charity is now serving 855 children across 14 London boroughs, with 310 volunteers. In 2024, they provided an incredible 7,524 hours of tutoring.
  • Team Up is now operating with a turnover of just under £350,000, an impressive 80% increase since joining The Firefly Project.
