Only 35% of children aged 8-18 read books in their spare time. And many young children living in difficult circumstances don’t have access to books in their home.
Doorstep Library was founded in 2010 to instil a love of reading in London’s children through weekly reading sessions with volunteers in their homes.
We provided Doorstep Library with nearly £170,000 in funding over their three years on The Firefly Project.
Our development grants supported a range of projects to build Doorstep Library’s operations. These included creating a promotional video and funding several consulting projects, including corporate, social franchising and organisational voice consultancies.
We also used our network to recruit two new trustees, provide office space and connect the charity to £67,500 in further funding. It was also thanks to our connections that Doorstep Library received book donations from Sarah, The Duchess of York.
Our support has allowed Doorstep Library to strengthen their organisational capacity, allowing them to continuously reach hundreds of children per year.
